Girls Get Away day is designed for girls to complete the first two pieces of a GSUSA Journey series. Each Journey is centered around a theme and has its own book that girls will use to guide them. While the purpose of this event is to be educational in order to complete the journey, we do work to ensure as much fun as possible! Some of the topics tend to be more intense based on the content covered, but our staff work to create a sense of fun around it while making sure not to detract from the content.  Each journey requires a large amount of book work along with hands on activities.  Please expect that campers will spend time sitting, talking, discussing, and processing the content that is being covered.  We will ensure they get 1 classic camptivity outside (weather permitting). We cannot guarantee which activities each group will do as it will depend on staffing, girls attending, and weather. Girls will complete all requirements up to the Take Action project. The Take Action project will be up to individual or troop to complete on their own time after this event.

Participants will need to provide their own lunch and/or snacks.

This day might look different when compared to other weekends at Timber Ridge because of GSGATL’s guidance regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, but we will still have an amazing weekend! We still love giving girls the chance to experience camp and the outdoors and are striving to make this an experience you’ll love, while keeping everyone safe.

Each girl/troop will be asked to select their Journey prior to the event. The options by Girl Scout Level include:
Juniors: Agent of Change, Get Moving, Amuse
Cadettes: Amaze, Media, Breathe
Seniors: Girltopia, Mission Sisterhood
Ambassadors: Bliss, Justice
Each Journey must have a minimum of 4 girls to be offered. If the minimum is not reached, girls will be given their second choice. Selections could be announced as late as Tuesday before the event depending on when choices are submitted.
Girls will be expected to have a copy of the Journey book for their track and can purchase both the book and award at check-in.
