Join us for a day of learning, networking and fun with fellow new (and newer) Girl Scout troop leaders!  The day’s agenda is filled with interactive sessions specifically designed to help volunteers in their first troop year get started with success.

Topics for the day include:

  • Girl Scout Basics
  • Safety First for You & Your Troop
  • Troop Money Management – Funding The Fun
  • Delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE)
  • Songs, Ceremonies & Traditions
  • Badges, Patches & Programming
  • Tools To Use
  • Engaging Your Troop Families
  • Fostering An Inclusive Troop Environment
  • Pulling It All Together – Planning Your Troop Year
  • Taking Care of Yourself, Too!

We’ll have several hands-on learning segments, including holding a Girl Scout ceremony and practicing activities you can do with girls to earn a badge!

A taco bar lunch will be provided which will have vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options.  If you prefer to have something else, please feel free to bring your own lunch from home to enjoy.

You’ll walk away from the day with new knowledge, new friends and tools & resources to make the beginning of your Girl Scout volunteer journey a smooth one!

Please plan to bring a refillable water bottle, any snacks/drinks you might like to have during our time together and your positive Girl Scout spirit to help make it a great day!  If you have a laptop or tablet, it would be helpful to have that with you as we review the various online tools available to Girl Scout volunteers, too.

All attendees must complete two courses in their gsLearn accounts prior to attending this event:  Georgia Mandated Reporters and GSUSA Girl Scouts Child Neglect and Prevention.  gsLearn is accessed through your myGS account.

This class is an adult learning opportunity for approved Girl Scout of Greater Atlanta volunteers only.  Children should not attend. 

Special Bonus:  Attendees will also receive a 10% discount coupon good for purchases made at the Badge & Sash store that day (May17), too!  You’ll have time to stock up on your Girl Scout gear while you are here!

Cancellation Policy
Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet minimum enrollment numbers. If a class is cancelled, we will work with the participant to find an alternate class or refund the enrollment fee. If you need to cancel your enrollment, please send an email to training@gsgatl.org. Cancellations made up to 10 days before the class will receive a full refund. Participants are welcome to reschedule their classes if needed, at no cost. To reschedule your enrollment, please send an email to training@gsgatl.org.
