Join us for a day of learning, enrichment and fun!

There will be classes and opportunities for new and experienced volunteers alike!

  • Learn from fellow volunteers, program partners, Council staff and special guests in your choice from a variety of learning sessions.
  • Make new friends, reconnect with the old and find new opportunities while networking with fellow volunteers. 
  • Discover new program ideas and resources available in the "Volunteer Mall".
  • Visit our pop-up Badge & Sash Store to pick up your Girl Scout supplies and gear.
  • Enjoy a day out with your fellow Girl Scout volunteers!

Your $12 registration fee includes these great opportunities, conference materials, and a box lunch, too. 

Special Note for Service Unit Treats & Keeps Managers:  If you are only attending the SUTKM session, please do not select any other classes, sessions or lunch options when registering.  See separate email from the Product Programs Team for other important information.

Leveraging Your Girl Scout Volunteer Experience

Back by popular request!  Unlock the potential of your Girl Scout volunteer experience and learn how to apply your transferable skills in the real world. This course empowers you to recognize your leadership strengths, set meaningful goals, build networks, and enhance your resume and interview skills. By the course's end, you'll be well-prepared to navigate the professional world and leverage your Girl Scout background for personal and professional growth. Join us in celebrating your Girl Scout legacy and empowering your future!

Safety First

As a dedicated volunteer, you lead according to the Girl Scout motto of “Be prepared”.  Join this session to learn about safety and risk management guidelines. Dive deep into vital topics such as Contracts, Insurance, Liability, and Accident and Incident Reporting. Together, we'll navigate the essential elements to ensure that your troop activities are not only enjoyable and exciting, but safe and successful, too!

Program Fun for Younger Girl (K-5) Troops

Learn about programming for younger (K-5) Girl Scouts and how to help your troop explore these opportunities!  This class will offer practical tips for planning badge & patch program activities, engaging girls in Journeys, and celebrating their achievements. Plus, attendees will get the latest updates on new badge and patch programs along with council events, ensuring they have the most current information to create a fun and rewarding Girl Scout experience.

New Troop Leader Connection

New (and newer) troop leaders are invited to join us for an interactive networking and small group coaching session.   Learn about training opportunities, tools and resources to support you during your first year as a Girl Scout volunteer.  We’ll be available to answer questions and provide support to help you navigate your first year as a Girl Scout volunteer!  (Note – This session is offered multiple times throughout the day.)

Achieving Excellence: Navigating Girl Scout High Awards

 

Join our informative Girl Scout High Awards Information Session to explore the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award prerequisites, requirements, approval process, and recognition! In this fast-paced learning experience, you'll gain valuable insights into helping your girls pursue these prestigious awards. It's your opportunity to have all your High Awards questions answered and discover how to help your troop members make their mark in the world of Girl Scouting.

Service Unit Treats & Keeps Manager Training

The Service Unit Treats & Keeps Manager Training is designed to equip volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully support the troops in their service unit in managing the Treats & Keeps program. This training session will cover all aspects of the program, including program dates, product lineup, how to get started, tools & resources, system overview and more.

Note: This session is specifically for those volunteers who will be serving as the Service Unit Treats & Keeps Manager in their area.   The Product Programs team will host an information table in our partner area to answer questions and share details about the program with troop volunteers.

This class spans two class session time periods.

Team Building for Brownies and Juniors

Join this hands-on Team Building Session and learn techniques to support your Brownie or Junior troop!  Whether your troop is brand new, exploring unfamiliar experiences or growing in their group dynamics, understanding group development and engaging with cooperative learning games will help your Girl Scout troop thrive. This session will explore Tuckman’s Levels of Group Development and provide fun and practical ways to help your troop tackle challenges, communicate more effectively and build a stronger Girl Scout sisterhood.

Troop Leader Panel Discussion – Building Engaging Experiences for Older Girls

Get ready to receive insights, tips, and inspiration from seasoned troop leaders who have been at the forefront of guiding Girl Scouts on their journey of growth and empowerment. In this interactive discussion, our panelists will share their diverse experiences, challenges, and successes in leading troops of middle and high school Girl Scouts. Whether you're a new troop leader seeking guidance or a seasoned veteran looking for fresh perspectives, this panel promises to offer valuable strategies, best practices and leadership connections.

Engaging Families in the Troop Experience

This class delves into the value of engaging Girl Scout families and prepares you with practical strategies to enlist their involvement with your troop.  From fostering stronger bonds to enhancing troop dynamics, this session covers how family involvement contributes to a vibrant Girl Scout community.   We’ll also share ways to conduct an effective parent/caregiver and approaches to build your troop support teams, helping to set the stage for a year filled with meaningful family support.

Juliette Parent / Caregiver Connection

Are you a parent / caregiver of an individually registered Juliette Girl Scout?  Join us to learn about strategies for engaging and motivating Juliettes to help ensure they have a fulfilling Girl Scout experience. The class will cover ways to facilitate badge and program work, organize activities and connect Juliettes with the broader Girl Scout community.  You’ll have the opportunity to meet other Juliette parents / caregivers and share ideas, too.

Description

Atlanta Community Food Bank:  The Community Food Experience

Join the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s session to engage, educate, and empower your troop in the fight against hunger. In partnership with over 700 organizations, the Food Bank distributes 9.7 million pounds of food each month across 29 counties. In this session, the Food Bank’s education team will lead an engaging simulation to provide deeper insights into food insecurity and how each of us can be advocates against hunger. You will also learn about the Atlanta Community Food Bank Girl Scout Patch Program, where Girl Scouts can learn about food insecurity, serve their community, and advocate for change—all while earning patches.

*Be sure to bring a phone or laptop or pair up with someone who has one.

Building The Future with STEM

There’s so much hidden inside the fascinating world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)!  When Girl Scouts learn about STEM, they are better prepared to break stereotypes, solve real world problems, inspire innovation, and shape a brighter future.  Join us for this interactive session to learn how you can confidently explore STEM opportunities with your troop this year.

GROW Model for Goal Setting & Problem Solving

This class is designed to equip volunteers with the skills to develop their growth mindset and enhance their problem-solving abilities. Participants will learn how to use the GROW model (Goal, Realities, Opportunities, Way Forward) to guide themselves in setting goals and solving problems effectively. This class will provide practical strategies to encourage a positive, resilient attitude and support personal development

New Troop Leader Connection

Tools You Can Use

Learn about resources available to support troop leaders and families in delivering the Girl Scout experience.  During this session, we’ll provide an overview of the Volunteer ToolKit, gsLearn, our council and national websites and other tools you can use when planning your Girl Scout activities this year.

Team Building for Older Girls

Join us for a fun and hands-on interactive Teambuilding Session for leaders of older girl troops! Whether your troop is developing a Take Action project, trying something new as a troop, or welcoming a new member, learning about group development and evolution will lead to better team performance and personal growth.  This session will explore Tuckman’s Levels of Group Development and provide practical ideas for when and how to use cooperative games and activities to strengthen group dynamics, promote positive behaviors, and build a stronger Girl Scout sisterhood. 

Ceremonies & Traditions – Conducting a Flag Ceremony

Girl Scouts have a long tradition of citizenship and civic contribution in their communities. Learn how your troop can support their community through a formal flag ceremony, including how to teach girls respect and care for the flag, and suggestions for engaging in community events.

Nurturing An Inclusive Troop Environment

To create an inclusive environment, the most important thing is that each Girl Scout feels seen for who they are and what they bring to the group. Through treating all Girl Scouts with kindness and respect, you can nurture an inclusive troop environment.  In this session, we’ll discuss ways troop leaders can carry out this important work, including modeling friendship and kindness for your Girl Scouts and showing them what it means to practice empathy.

Closing Session

Join us in the Main Ballroom for the awarding of door prizes and our closing remarks.

 

This event is for adult members of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta.  Children should not attend.
