Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors are invited to stretch your minds and your bodies at two IMPACTFUL workshop opportunities offered at the Mableton Service Center:

First, get your body and mind moving through breathing exercises, stretches, and mindfulness practices with FreedOM Youth Yoga. Remember to wear comfortable clothing that won't limit movement and to bring a water bottle. You may also bring your own yoga mat or rent one for $3.

In the afternoon, earn a patch from Wish for WASH as you dive headfirst into the impactful work of creating meaningful change in our community around menstrual health. This workshop includes a design challenge, team building, and of course the chance to network with local changemakers in our community.

Girl Scouts are welcome to attend one or both workshops.

There is plenty of space to bring a lunch and enjoy some quality time together at our beautiful headquarters or to meet up at a local dining location in between the two classes.

This program is a drop-off event. However, volunteers and guardians are welcome to stay in the building, utilizing our multiple public spaces, the lobby waiting area, or our back deck while the Girl Scouts are in their sessions.

Adults can also have lunch with their Girl Scouts or take them to lunch.

Workshop Descriptions:

Holistic Wellness & Mindfulness Practices: This yoga session for Girl Scouts ages 12–18 is designed to align with the Girl Scout goals of building courage, confidence, and character while promoting holistic well-being. The session will incorporate mindful movement, intentional breathing, and relaxation practices to support physical, mental, and behavioral health. We’ll begin with an introduction to yoga and its benefits, emphasizing how mindfulness can improve focus, reduce stress, and foster self-regulation.

Freedom Youth Yoga's five signature breathing practices, paired with a yoga pose sequence matched with inhalations and exhalations, will teach techniques for managing anxiety and staying present during challenging situations. To close, a guided meditation will invite participants to reflect on gratitude and set personal intentions aligned with their goals as Girl Scouts. This practice cultivates inner peace and a sense of purpose, inspiring Girl Scouts to bring their best selves to their communities. Throughout the session, participants will learn how yoga supports physical flexibility, emotional balance, and mental clarity, empowering them to live authentically and courageously while building a foundation for lifelong wellness.

Love Your Cycle: Designing for Women's Health: It’s uncomfy; it’s messy; no one wants to talk about it, but it’s a central part of life and shouldn’t be so stigmatized - how might we de-stigmatize menstrual health and hygiene? Work with current and former Georgia Tech students who are a part of a local social impact organization called Wish for WASH as they guide you through the process of human centered, empathetic design. We will use this innovative design thinking approach to address one of our modern world’s biggest problems: water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

We are seeking a diverse group of thinkers with a variety of interests from social entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability, gender equality, design, and more. Girl scouts who join us will work in teams to design solutions to help overcome stigmas with menstrual health and hygiene. We will produce drawings, sketches, and physical prototypes of our designs and will provide resources and instruction that map to the Senior/Ambassador Women's Health Badge. We are passionate about working together to co-create, ideate and iterate solutions to help build a more inclusive world because #menstruationmatters!
